Cookie policy
In effect from 18 August 2026.
1. The short version
We use essential cookies to make the site work. With your consent — and only with it — we also use analytics to understand how the site is used. Nothing analytics-related loads unless you accept, declining is one click, and you can change your mind at any time via (also in the footer of every page).
We set no advertising or tracking-network cookies, and we do not sell or share data for advertising.
2. Every cookie and storage item we set
| Name | What it does | Category | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| better-auth.session_token | Keeps you signed in to your account. | Essential (cookie) | 7 days, refreshed while you use the app |
| fm-analytics-consent | Remembers the analytics choice you made on the cookie bar. | Essential (local storage) | Until you change or clear it |
| fm:surgery:draft:v1 | Keeps a Quick Surgery brief you're mid-way through, so signing in or reloading doesn't lose your answers. Stays on your device; cleared when you submit. | Essential (local storage) | Until you submit the brief or clear it |
| _ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics: tells returning visitors apart and keeps session state, so we can see how the site is used. | Analytics — only with your consent | Up to 2 years |
| Amplitude (AMP_*) | Product analytics. Configured but not currently active; if we turn it on, it still loads only with your consent. | Analytics — only with your consent | Not currently set |
One non-cookie worth naming: a report download link contains a token identifying your request. It is part of the link, stores nothing on your device, and does nothing but serve the file and count that it was opened.
3. Changing your choice
Use to reopen preferences and turn analytics on or off. Turning it off stops new collection immediately and fully applies from the next page you load. You can also clear cookies and site data in your browser, which removes everything above and brings the cookie bar back.
4. The rest of the picture
How we handle personal data overall — including your rights and how to complain — is in the privacy policy. The terms of service govern use of the app itself. Questions: hello@fractionalsmatch.com.
